Natya Shastra:
Taking the verses, directions and chapters on Movement, psychological states
their representation and Rasotpatti ( creating the aesthetics) from Natya Shastra – also known as the
Fifth Veda, this therapy will provide physical, emotional and psychological catharsis leading to
liberation and well being for those suffering from any mental dis-order. Applied Natya Therapy is based
on the premise that the body and mind are interrelated. Therapists believe that mental and emotional
problems are often held in the body in the form of muscle tension andconstrained movement patterns.
Conversely, they believe that the state of the body can affect attitude and feelings, both positively
and negatively. The movements in ANT become organized in such a way that they become meaningful for the
brain. Applied Natya Therapy has shown lot of results and promise in over all non-medicinal healing
and has established as a strong form of complementary treatment that helps in recovery as well as long
term disease management. With an open mind and society support we can together create a confluence of
Indian traditional dance, culture, movement to help in overall well-being and growth.
